Create Task Activity Scripting

The Create Task activity generates a record on the Task table or any of Task's extended tables

• Use the Task values from and Set values fields to set simple variable values
• Use the Advanced and Advanced Script fields to set complex variable values

The Create Task activity sets variable values for the Task type (e.g. Problem, Incident, Catalog Task).

You do not have to script to set field values in the Task record. Where possible, it is considered best practice to use the Task values from and Set values fields to set Task values from:

• Fields - provide values for the new record in the commonly used fields presented on the form.
• Template - choose a template to populate the new record.
• Values - choose the fields you want from a choice list and provide values for the new record.

IMPORTANT

• The Advanced Script runs after the task values are set using the Fields, Template or Values you have specified
• the Create Task activity is only available for Workflows running on the Task table or any of its children.
