Scripting Overview Caution

  • Modified scripts are considered customer owned
  • Skipped during ServiceNow upgrades
  • Exemption
    • System treats the Active field as Update Exempt
  • Best practice strategy for updating baseline scripts
    • Make a copy of the record you want to update
    • Make the original record inactive
    • Make changes to the script in the copy

Other than changing the value of the Active field, once a baseline script is modified, you own it!

Changes made to a record that are only the result of changing the Active field are excluded from update tracking. This allows you to change the field value without affecting the Updated andUpdated by system fields.
